Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin believes that the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Felipe Caicedo will have to make way in Inter’s squad before the club can sign Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia, Biasin emphasized that room will have to be made in the forward line before the Nerazzurri can make the investment to complete the signing of Scamacca.
Scamacca is a long-term target for the Nerazzurri to reinforce their attack, with the 22-year-old having the profile to replace Edin Dzeko in the long term and also the right age to grow and contribute for seasons to come.
Inter are widely reported to be working to secure the signing of Scamacca, but as Biasin points out, their squad already has a full compliment of attackers for the time being.
Caicedo arrived on loan from Genoa this month to fill out the squad for the rest of the campaign and Sanchez has been in fine form, but in Biasin’s view these players will have to go before Scamacca is brought in.
“I think it’s inevitable that a Number Nine who can back up Edin Dzeko before taking over for him in the long term,” he said. “In addition to Scamacca, there are also other targets, although I’m not sure who these would be.”
He noted that this signing would “Necessarily entails the departures of Sanchez and Caicedo, unless they are in incredible form over the next five months.”
