A year ago, Inter owners Suning looked very close to completing the sale of the club to UK-based investment fund BC Partners, but in the end they decided against selling the club.

The significance of this decision is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who note that the decision looks to have paid off for the current Nerazzurri, at least for the time being.

Suning have been widely linked with potentially looking to sell Inter for some time, especially with the pandemic-related financial difficulties with both their parent company and also with the Nerazzurri.

As Tuttosport points out, there are still difficulties ahead which the owners will have to navigate, especially in the form of the maturation of their massive loan from Oaktree Capital in 2024.

However, for the moment, the year has been a successful one for the club that has left it in better shape than it started both on and off the pitch, and Suning will feel pleased with their decision to stick with the club.
