Former Inter and Torino midfielder Antonio Sabato believes that striker Felipe Caicedo can have an instant impact for Inter over the rest of the season.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the 64-year-old hailed Caicedo as a player who can play an important role in getting needed results over the rest of the campaign for the Nerazzurri.

Caicedo arrived on loan from Genoa for the rest of the season last week, and the Ecuadorian will be expected to be able to contribute in the Nerazzurri’s congested run of important fixtures across multiple competitions.

Given the 33-year-old’s extensive experience with Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi when the pair were at Lazio together, it will be hoped that he can be a reliable outlet for goals and holdup play.

Sabato is a fan of the Ecuadorian, and feels that he will have what it takes to make a significant contribution this season.

“Caicedo knows Inzaghi well,” he stated. “He’s a player who can be decisive, even when used as a substitute as we’ve seen at Lazio.”

He also spoke of Inter’s other January signing Robin Gosens, who he said is a “Highly interesting player, we’ll have to see how he comes back from his injury.”

Lastly, the former midfielder also spoke on reported Inter targets Gianluca Scamacca and Davide Frattesi, stating that “In my opinion they’re two very intriguing and Italian players. It’s good that Inter are trying to bring in Italian players.”
