Inter have had an eventful January transfer window, both in view of the rest of the season and also in terms of their plans for the longer-term future.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who graded the Nerazzurri’s window at 8/10 and praised the strengthening of the team as well as the long-term vision that appears to be on show.
There was no guarantee that the Nerazzurri would intervene in the transfer market in January, but in the end they completed two signings during the final week of the window.
Robin Gosens arrives from Atalanta to compete with Ivan Perisic on the left for the rest of the campaign, and also to add quality in the wing-back position for seasons to come.
Meanwhile, Felipe Caicedo has been loaned in from Genoa, adding proven quality to the Nerazzurri’s short-handed attack until the end of the season.
The Gazzetta feel that both of these signings look like good pieces of business, but also note that the club have spent the window making strides towards important summer transfer business.
Inter have been widely reported to be continuing their pursuit of young Sassuolo duo Gianluca Scamacca and Davide Frattesi through the month, and are wasting no time trying to get deals for the pair in the summer wrapped up.
Along with having signed Gosens already, the Gazzetta argue that Inter have made significant progress towards shoring up their team for the next few seasons in addition to having strengthened it immediately with their two signings.
