Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi feels that the style of play at Inter is increasingly resembling the standard of the top level in European football.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Sacchi hailed the developments in the Nerazzurri’s game as making them ready to compete with Europe’s elite.
Inter have enjoyed strong form this season not just in terms of results, but also in terms of their demonstrated ability to implement a proactive possession-based style of play against virtually any opposition.
Sacchi feels that this takes the team closer to Europe’s elite than they have been recently, and that while they’re not quite at the top level yet, they appear to be heading in that direction.
The former Rossoneri coach credits the work of Simone Inzaghi as well as the building of the squad for getting to this point.
“Inter, game after game, are getting closer to the complete style football that is practised in the rest of Europe,” he said.
He went on that “Simone Inzaghi is very good and is constantly improving – it still remains to be seen how he reacts to real pressure though.”
Of the Nerazzurri’s January signings, he said that “Gosens is a great player. He is currently injured and we’ll have to wait to see him but he’s come into an environment that he’s perfectly suited to.”
“Caicedo completes the attack, and in my view he is also a superstitious signing,” he went on, elaborating that “At Lazio Inzaghi always threw him on at the end of matches and he always scored.”
