Former AC Milan, Cagliari, and Como goalkeeper Villiam Vecchi believes that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has the experience to cope in Saturday’s massive Milan derby.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, as reported by FCInter1908, the 73-year-old hailed the Nerazzurri keeper’s experience and quality ahead of the derby.

Handanovic will lead Inter into yet another derby, having been the starting keeper on the Nerazzurri side of the fixture for a decade now.

The Nerazzurri captain has come in for some criticism this season for his form and some errors in the earlier part of the campaign, but he has also shown his best at times to bail his team out.

Vecchi believes that the Slovenian is still a top player in his position, and Inter fans will be hoping that he can continue to show top form against the Rossoneri over the weekend to help his team to a result which would be massive.

“Handanovic has a totally different style now than in the past, he is a bit more cautious in coming out, but he remains a great goalkeeper and he knows the derby atmosphere very well,” Vecchi said.
