Former Inter striker Christian Vieri has said that Inter will not modify their style for the derby against AC Milan on Saturday evening, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Christian Vieri showed initial exasperation when having to talk about tactics and then said that Simone Inzaghi will play the same beautiful football as the team has been doing all season.
“We talk about it so much only for ourselves. The real tactic that Inzaghi uses today is to play the same beautiful football as much as possible, always to win, which brought him where he is today.”
He then said that Inter will not switch up their approach just because it is the Derby della Madonnina, as it can be a sign of weakness to change your style for a specific opponent.
“So Inter will play as usual, nothing will change because it’s the derby: changing according to the opponent can become a weakness.”
Christian Vieri went on to suggest that Inter play better football under their new coach than they did under Antonio Conte and that Simone Inzaghi has the luxury of letting his players do their own thing as they are such talented individuals.
“With Conte Inter played well, with Inzaghi very well: period. He continues the same discourse, but leaving his team with the greater freedom that a coach allows after saying to himself: ‘They are strong, they are already a team, I’ll let them do it’.
“Thus, joining a ready-made team was easier for Calhanoglu: his quality coexistence with Brozovic, their tactical balance will be decisive in the derby as well.”
