Inter-linked Genoa defender Andrea Cambiaso has already become a target for a number of clubs, but wants to wait to consider his options in the summer.

This according to the 21-year-old’s agent Giovanni Bia, who explained to Calciomercato.it that the young wing-back is hoping to potentially receive significant offers from top clubs during the summer transfer window.

Cambiaso’s form this season has been one of the brightest spots in a season where the Griffone have found themselves in the relegation places of the Serie A table.

The Nerazzurri in particular have identified the wing-back as one of their main targets to reinforce their left side should Ivan Perisic depart at the end of his contract, but Atalanta and Juventus are also admirers.

As his agent explained, the player has already been approached during the January window, but wants to be patient and sees what happens in the summer.

“Someone already knocked on Genoa’s door, quite loudly in fact,” he said. “In January, however, there was an agreement that they wouldn’t allow him to leave, and Andrea didn’t want to leave.”

“He was very keen to finish the season at Genoa,” the agent emphasized. “The young man is from Genoa, and he did not want to abandon ship in the middle of the stormy sea they find themselves in.”

He went on that “I expect that now that things are a little calmer, we’ll meet with the club soon to make all the necessary assessments.”

“In June we hope that Genoa avoid relegation, and that offers arrive for him that will give a lot of money to the club’s coffers,” he went on, “and which bring the young man to a more prestigious team to improve his level.”

“If this happens we will all be happy,” he added.
