Italian journalist Paolo Condo has said that Robin Gosens could be useful for when they travel to Anfield and the Nerazzurri must hope Liverpool’s African players are tired, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As was written by Paolo Condo in La Repubblica today, Robin Gosens should be recovered from his injury in time to face Liverpool at Anfield in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

“The new signing Gosens, still in the pits, will likely be a card to play in the return of Anfield: a nice chance to try to keep Trent Alexander-Arnold down, who this year is dominant again.”

Paolo Condo noted the absence of Nicolo Barella through suspension and the fact that Liverpool has just signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto who could make Mohamed Salah work even harder to maintain his levels and his place in the team.

“Inter are fine but will not have the disqualified Barella, Liverpool have invested heavily in the market by taking Luis Diaz from Porto, the Colombian winger who in Klopp’s designs will put Salah a bit in a hurry, unwilling to sign a renewal of the contract.”

The other interesting element of the tie is that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are both at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament right now and it is looking increasingly likely that they will be there playing until the final on 6 February.

“Mané is in the final of the African Cup, however it goes, the two will remain in Cameroon until February 6, the date of the final. Inter are not ashamed to hope that they will come back a little tired, because their chances would increase.”
