Sampdoria midfielder Stefano Sensi has said that his goal against Empoli in the Coppa Italia did not change anything when it came to wanting to go out on loan, according to a report in the Italian media.
Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Stefano Sensi talked about how his winning goal against Empoli for Inter in extra time may have affected his choice to go on loan to Sampdoria or not.
He claims that the goal had no effect and he had already agreed terms to join Sampdoria for the rest of the season.
“Not at all. It didn’t change anything, in the sense that I entered the field doing what I had to do. I am a professional, it was my duty, but I was pleased because in any case it was really good for Inter.
“And I’m talking about teammates, clubs and fans. They all treated me great, so scoring a decisive goal was nice. However, my thinking has not changed, because I already wanted to come here. The contact had been initiated the previous week.”
Stefano Sensi also talked about the transfer window that has just closed and the state of the leading teams. Despite Juventus’ positive window, Stefano Sensi feels that Inter are still in better shape than the Bianconeri.
“Juventus with the signings of Vlahovic and Zakaria made good moves but I honestly think that Inter are still above everyone. I played there, I know my teammates: before being excellent players they are great men, and when you enter the field this makes the difference. And then Gosens and Caicedo arrived, excellent players.”
Stefano Sensi has spent a lot of time out injured but he recalls the last time he scored in Serie A, which was in September 2019.
“It’s the day of my last goal in Serie A, right in Marassi, against Sampdoria. Inter won 3-1, I scored with a long shot from Sanchez. There were ten of us left in the second half due to his expulsion. Maybe it could be a sign of fate.”
