Former Inter midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi has said that the upcoming Derby della Madonnina is more important for AC Milan than it is for Inter, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on the Tutti Convocati show on Radio 24, via FCInternews, Evaristo Beccalossi explained that the game is more important for the Rossoneri because they have to make sure they do not fall too far behind Inter.

“Inzaghi arrived in Milan on tiptoes, AC Milan has returned to the top for two years: maximum respect, but I think Inter have a chance to win it. This derby is more important for Milan, so as not to increase the points gap.”

Evaristo Beccalossi then mentioned the upcoming Champions League tie with Liverpool that Inter must soon start to focus on.

He feels that Inter is at a point where they can now play on an equal footing with anyone and that that includes the Premier League side who are the clear favourites to win the tie and make it to the quarter-final.

“In the last period, Inter have had a small decline, but we forget the run-up they have made. It gives you the impression that they decide what game it will be, they can play on an equal footing with everyone, even with Liverpool.”

Inter will be without Nicolo Barella for both legs as he is suspended following a red card against Real Madrid.
