Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini feels that his team have lost a key player when wing-back Robin Gosens was sold to Inter.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach reflected on the loss of the German and acknowledged that he had been a vital piece of their team before his departure for the Nerazzurri.

Inter got a deal wrapped up for Gosens in the last week of the January transfer window, with the 27-year-old arriving on an initial loan deal which should become a permanent deal until 2026 when the right conditions are met.

The German could be the solution to keep the Nerazzurri’s left flank strong for seasons to come, and the club are putting their faith in his quality in the long term.

However, just as Inter are gaining a top player, La Dea have also let go of someone whose performances in Bergamo have already established a very strong reputation for him within Italian football.

Gasperini feels that it’s a loss for his side, stating that “His loss is a big one, but he’s been extraordinary for us, I can only thank him.”

“He was a fundamental pillar of our team,” the coach added. “He didn’t start out at his best right away, but he has achieved incredible things here. I wish him well, and this year we will not face Inter again.”
