Former Inter midfielder Borja Valero has revealed that his favourite memory of the Milan derby is when Mauro Icardi scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 win, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Radio Deejay in Italy, via FCInternews, Borja Valero recalled his favourite memory from playing in the Derby della Madonnina during his short spell as an Inter player.

He chose the 3-2 victory over the Rossoneri in October 2017 in which Mauro Icardi scored a hat-trick for the Nerazzurri. The Argentine now plays for Paris Saint Germain in France and has been linked with a return to Serie A recently.

“We won 3-2 with a hat-trick from Icardi, I will never forget the roars of the stadium of that day.”

It is clear that Borja Valero is impressed with the Inter team that Simone Inzaghi has created as he feels they play with more creative freedom than they did under Antonio Conte last season.

“I really like his Inter, he did a great job and it wasn’t easy after Conte. He brought something more, he gave more freedom to the players and that was the hardest part.

“Conte is rigid, he gives you several options on the pitch but you can only choose between them: you can’t do anything else, decide on your own initiative.”

Inter face AC Milan on Saturday evening at 18:00 local time.
