Former Salernitana and Watford coach Giuseppe Sannino feels that Inter had already had the strongest squad in Serie A even before reinforcing in the January transfer window.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Sannino gave the view that the Nerazzurri didn’t need to make signings last month, as their squad was already sufficient to win the Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri were active in the transfer market in January, ending their pursuit of a left wing-back by signing Robin Gosens from Atalanta and also loaning in Felipe Caicedo from Genoa to bolster their attack following Joaquin Correa’s injury.

Both of these signings have the potential to add quality and depth to Inter’s team as they approach the business end of the season, though even before their arrival the Nerazzurri had already established a lead at the top of the Serie A table.

Sannino feels that based on what the squad was showing even without Gosens and Caicedo, their signings were not necessary for the team to stay as the top side in Serie A.

“It seems to me that Inter have made two signings, but really they might as well not have signed anyone,” he stated, “they already had a very strong squad.”
