Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, the Mayor gave his thoughts on the need to make sure all viewpoints are heard as the construction of the new stadium progresses.
Inter and AC Milan are pressing forward with their plans to construct a new stadium in Milan, hoping to have construction completed by around 2026.
The new stadium is seen by the clubs as a vital development to modernize their infrastructure and increase revenues, though some aspects of their plans have not been without controversy.
The plan to demolish the San Siro is an aspect which has particularly attracted opposition, and Sala acknowledged the need to air out viewpoints regarding this and all other points of contention regarding the new stadium.
“The new stadium seems to be something where everyone wants to have their say,” he stated.
“Yes, no, yes, we should still keep the San Siro up, and so on,” he characterized the back-and-forth. “Now I expect that we will start having a public debate to deal with all these viewpoints.”
