Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi must shoulder some of the blame for his team’s late capitulation to lose 2-1 to AC Milan in yesterday’s Milan derby.
The coach was given middling grades for his approach to the derby in the ratings for the match across Italian media, as reported by L’Interista, with his substitutions singled out as a reason why the Nerazzurri lost control in the second half.
Inzaghi looked to have set his team up well in the first half against the Rossoneri, as they created more and better chances, and deservedly went into the break 1-0 ahead.
However, after a good start to the second half they succumbed to the pressure of their city rivals who increasingly pushed for an equalizer.
Milan coach Stefano Pioli urged his team up the pitch and made attacking substitutions, while Inzaghi took off some of his best performers on the night, which allowed the Rossoneri to have their best spell of the match in the decisive moments.
TuttoMercatoWeb felt that the coach was worthy of a 6/10 grade for what he showed, while all of Tuttosport, the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Corriere dello Sport, and L’Interista awarded him just 5.5/10.
