Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo feels that Inter lacked attacking impetus during the second half of their derby loss to AC Milan on Saturday.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, the former midfielder emphasized that the Nerazzurri were overly passive and needed to show more attacking intent in order to kill off the Rossoneri.

Inter had showed a controlled aggression during the first half of the derby, but they also played very proactively, and they carved out enough major chances to be very good value for their goal.

However, as the second half of the match wore on, the team looked to have become more focused on slowing down the tempo and keeping the Rossoneri at bay.

In Parolo’s view, this was the major error of the Nerazzurri’s approach, and the team might have been rewarded for a more attack-minded approach during the second half.

“In the second half they didn’t look to be very focused on attacking with aggression,” he said. “In taking care of the ball they often preferred to go out wide rather than trying to attack through the middle.”
