New Inter signing Robin Gosens is looking forward to being a part of the style of football that the Nerazzurri play under Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to German news outlet Kicker, the 27-year-old emphasized that the Nerazzurri continue to be the most attractive side in Serie A despite their summer departures, and also spoke of his desire to establish himself in the team for a long time.

Gosens arrives from Atalanta where he built a strong reputation for himself playing in the wing-back role under La Dea coach Gian Piero Gasperini, and he will play a similar role under Inter boss Simone Inzaghi.

The German was complimentary of the stylistic aspects of the Italian champions’ football, and feels excited at the prospect of slotting into it.

Of how he has seen the Nerazzurri’s transformation from the Scudetto-winning team least season to the squad who currently sit top of the table in Serie A, he said that “Hakimi and Lukaku were two of the best players in the league last season, but the club is still at the top.”

“Inter play the most beautiful football in Serie A, and I’m hardly the only person who thinks so,” he emphasized.

On his significant €25 million transfer fee to join Inter in January, he said that “Leaving aside the fact that I find it absurd that one person would be worth more than another, I believe I’m worth that figure in today’s football.”

“And I will do everything to live up to that fee,” he promised.

Of the Champions League round of sixteen tie against Liverpool, Gosens updated that “I don’t think I’ll be ready to be available for the first leg.”

“In general, Liveroool were one of the most difficult draws we could get,” he added.

“After the derby we still have an equally important match against Napoli ahead of us,” he went on. “If we play well and show that we’re in good form, we’ll head into our matches against Liverpool with great confidence.”

“For me it’s about 50/50,” he said of the probability of either side progressing from the tie.

On living up to the legacy of another German left wing-back at Inter, Scudetto winner Andreas Brehme, Gosens reflected that “He’s a god at Inter. If I reached that status, it would mean that I did very well.”

“I would like to write as many pages into the history of Inter as I can,” he said.

On a possible move to the Bundesliga later in his career, the German said that “This is definitely my goal. Right now I want to stay at Inter for a long time, but my biggest dream remains to play in Germany.”

And on a possible move to Newcastle United in the future after having rejected the Premier League side for Inter, he said that “I’d prefer not to say anything about that.”
