Legendary former Inter, Real Madrid, and Roma striker Antonio Cassano feels that the Nerazzurri could have been ahead by a large margin in the derby against AC Milan based on their performance.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the former striker gave the view that Inter created enough chances to have won the match 7-0 despite losing 2-1 to the Rossoneri late on.

Inter looked more confident and organized for much of the first half of the derby, and into the initial stages of the second half, looking to be much more proactive with possession.

As a result, the Nerazzurri created more and better chances than their city rivals for much of the match, although they only managed to turn one of them into a goal, in the form of Ivan Perisic’s strike from a Hakan Calhanoglu corner.

However, Cassano emphasized that the Nerazzurri could have easily won the match but for their profligate finishing.

“Inter could have won the match 7-0, from start to finish,” the former striker opined. “They conceded two goals in five minutes minutes, a blackout in which they conceded two silly goals, with Handanovic not doing enough on Giroud’s shot.”

“Even in the second half, the Nerazzurri had 4-5 wasted counters,” he went on. “The Rossoneri didn’t have a shot on target, except during those five minutes.”

He further stressed that “There were those three minutes, and then it was all Inter from the 75th to the 90th minute. Inter deserved to win based on both the first and the second half. Milan did nothing.”
