Former Inter defender Daniele Adani feels that the Nerazzurri had the energy and confidence drained out of them in the second half of their derby loss to AC Milan on Saturday.
Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the former defender emphasized how the Nerazzurri seemed “paralyzed” as they capitulated a first-half lead to allow their city rivals to snatch three points.
The Nerazzurri had looked to have been the team in control for much of the first half of the derby, and initially picked up where they’d left off in the second, but as the half wore on something seemed to change.
The Nerazzurri gradually dropped back and became less proactive as they tried to slow the tempo and see the match out, while the Rossoneri pushed more and more frenetically as they searched for an equalizer.
The Nerazzurri looked shocked as they conceded two goals in quick succession from Milan striker Olivier Giroud, and lacked the needed intensity to get back into the match afterwards.
“Inter didn’t intend to let this match go, but they seemed to become paralyzed,” he said.
“Regarding Inzaghi’s changes I would point out that four of the five players who came on helped the team to the Supercoppa Italiana, so why is there always criticism if the game goes a certain way?” he pointed out.
“So now it’s Sanchez’s fault,” he went on, “Vidal didn’t make a great impact. The Nerazzurri played a great match, which doesn’t take anything away from Milan.”
