Inter coach Simone Inzaghi wants his players to pick themselves up and show their pride in this evening’s Coppa Italia quarter-final clash with Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the coach has stressed to his players the importance of putting their anger from Saturday’s derby defeat behind them and showing their pride again.

Inter faced a damaging blow in losing 2-1 to AC Milan in the derby, and in the most frustrating of circumstances as they threw away a lead late on in the match to hand their city rivals all three points and a way back into the Scudetto race.

Many Nerazzurri players both on the pitch and on the bench were visibly agitated as proceedings unfolded, with Inzaghi even deciding to take off Marcelo Brozovic to make sure the midfielder didn’t pick up a yellow card by letting emotions get the better of him.

The coach has spoken with his entire squad, and also made a point of speaking to captain Samir Handanovic, about turning their frustration with the derby loss into something more productive and reasserting themselves against Roma.
