Roma coach Jose Mourinho will be warmly received when he faces Inter for the first time as an opposition coach at the San Siro in this evening’s Coppa Italia quarter-final clash.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Portuguese coach should receive a warm welcome from the Nerazzurri faithful heading into the match.
Mourinho will be totally focused on trying to guide the Giallorossi to an important win as his Inter counterpart Simone Inzaghi will be in this vital Coppa Italia knockout clash.
However, the treble-winning coach’s return is an undeniable subplot to the match that could hardly be ignored, and in previous occasions where he has crossed paths with the fans of his old team the coach has always been given a positive reception.
After the Nerazzurri’s trip to face Roma in Serie A in December, some Inter ultras visited the coach at his hotel to give him a plaque stating that “Wherever your career takes you, you’ll always be one of us.”
Moreover, even when simply appearing as a spectator at the San Siro, in the Nerazzurri’s February 2016 clash with Sampdoria, the coach received an improvised tifo by some fans in the Curva Nord.
Whatever the Nerazzurri fans have planned specifically for Mourinho this time around, it can be expected that the reception for him will be positive.
