Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team showed how well they can deal with a difficult match with their Coppa Italia quarter-final win over Roma.

Speaking in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach praised his team’s handling of the game to secure progression to the semi-finals with a controlled win.

The Nerazzurri had their confidence shaken by a damaging derby defeat against AC Milan over the weekend, but they quickly returned and showed that they are able to managed the tempo even against tough opposition.

The Nerazzurri went ahead in the match virtually before it even began, through a well-taken Edin Dzeko volley, and they did well to largely restrict the Giallorossi who consistently showed a threat.

Now, Inzaghi has guided Inter to the Coppa Italia semi-finals in his first season in charge of the club, and he will hope that they can get even further when they meet either AC Milan or Lazio in the next round.

“We were very keen on this getting this objective,” the coach said. “It wasn’t easy, Roma have quality and we knew we had to put in an excellent performance, and the guys showed their quality well.”

“We scored immediately and managed the match well,” he added. “We’re happy and we will go forward to the semi-final.”
