Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has suffered a sprain to his right ankle during the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia clash with Roma yesterday evening.
This is confirmed by the Nerazzurri on their official site, where they update on the 22-year-old’s condition following his injury during yesterday’s match against the Giallorossi.
Bastoni landed awkwardly after a challenge with Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo towards the end of the first half of yesterday’s match, and immediately signalled that he would need to come off the pitch.
The 22-year-old was in tears as he exited, with the injury clearly causing him some pain, and the club have confirmed that the injury that he picked up was a sprained ankle.
They go on to note that further tests will be performed in the coming days which will provide more information on the defender’s condition.
It will remain to be seen what the recovery timeline will look like for Bastoni with a number of key matches coming up for the Nerazzurri including a Champions League clash with Liverpool next week.
