Inter had experienced a wobble in the wake of their disappointing derby defeat to AC Milan on Saturday, but they quickly got themselves back on surer footing with yesterday evening’s win over Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who argue that yesterday evening’s Coppa Italia triumph was important for the team to get back their sense of certainty in themselves.

The Nerazzurri allowed their city rivals to draw to within a point of them at the top of the Serie A table by losing to the Rossoneri, and this was made worse by the fact that they had squandered a lead in doing so.

However, the team had little time to dwell on this disappointment and an almost immediate opportunity to respond, in the form of yesterday evening’s Coppa Italia quarter-final match against Roma.

Inter put in the kind of confident and composed display that they needed to to reach the semi-finals of the competition, and suddenly look to have their balance back at a crucial moment in their season.
