Legendary former Inter President Massimo Moratti is glad to have met with former Nerazzurri coach Jose Mourinho again, and pleased to see his team bounce back from Saturday’s derby loss to AC Milan.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset following the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Roma in the Coppa Italia yesterday evening, the former President praised the team for their response to disappointment in the derby.
Inter knew they had to get back on track after dropping three massive points by allowing their city rivals to come back in the second derby of the season in Serie A.
They immediately had a chance to get back to winning ways by getting past the Giallorossi to the Coppa Italia semi-finals, and they did so.
Moratti said that it was a “Good response after the derby, after twenty excellent minutes they controlled the match.”
Moratti also met with an old friend in the form of Giallorossi head coach Jose Mourinho, who led Inter to an historic European treble together with Moratti in his time in charge.
“It was wonderful to see him again at San Siro,” he said, “the fans received him with great affection. The game went as it went but he was still in everyone’s heart.”
