Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has said that Inter’s strikers have been unfairly targeted in recent weeks, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview on Tutti Convocati, via FCInter1908, the former Inter defender hit out at those who have criticised the likes of Edin Dzeko, Alexis Sanchez, and Lautaro Martinez for missing too many chances.

“Inter’s attack had been a bit targeted in the last period, unjustly. Inter can have drops in the course of a match, but they always try to play, to get hold of the ball.”

It has been pointed out by many throughout the season that whilst Inter score a lot of goals and must be commended for that, they also miss a lot of very clear chances.

It is a difficult situation for Simone Inzaghi to approach as he cannot be too upset at his strikers given the team are the highest scorers in Serie A this season.

That being said, there is certainly the scope for them to find the back of the net even more regularly and had they not been wasteful against AC Milan, they would have won the derby.
