Former Inter Sporting Director Ernesto Paolillo has said that Serie A is very balanced this season and will go down to the final few days, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Radio Punto Nuovo, via FCInternews, Ernesto Paolillo explained that he thinks the quality of Napoli is very high and that the Serie A title race will go right down to the final few days.

“This year is very balanced. The quality of Napoli is high and being able to go on despite the big absences is an added strength. In my opinion, the championship will be decided only in the last few days.”

He then said that whilst he is an Inter supporter, AC Milan and Napoli will challenge the Nerazzurri all the way to the end.

He added that he would have put Atalanta in that group too but they did not impress him in their 2-1 loss at home to Cagliari last weekend.

“I am an Inter supporter, but I think Milan, Napoli and Inter will play it all the way. I would have added Atalanta, but they did not impress me this week.”

Ernesto Paolillo also discussed the overall state of Italian football in relation to other leagues in Europe and said that there are too many teams in the top two leagues and the stadiums are too old.

“The truth is that foreign rights are not sold properly, probably no one wants Italian football anymore, a very sad thing. We need a reform of the calendar and of the way of selling the television packages.

“There are too many teams in the two major leagues, in Serie A and Serie B, it is not that increasing the teams improves the level, teams also need to have adequate stadiums.”
