Former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has suggested that Inter are starting to show signs of fatigue as the season wears on, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Speaking whilst writing for La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi explained that he thinks in the defeat to AC last weekend and the Coppa Italia win over AS Roma on Tuesday, there was signs that the demanding schedule may be catching up on Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
“Simone Inzaghi’s Inter immediately recovered from the defeat they suffered in the derby by eliminating Mourinho’s grumpy Roma in the Coppa Italia. Perhaps the last two matches have shown some hint of physical or mental fatigue.
“All this could be a problem given the very demanding schedule that awaits Inter in the league, the Italian Cup and the Champions League. Up to now, Simone’s boys are deservedly first: they played good football, with courage and speed.”
If Arrigo Sacchi is right, the situation will only get worse for Inter over the next week or so as they face Napoli tomorrow at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, welcome Liverpool to San Siro on Wednesday in the Champions League, and then play Sassuolo on February 20.
Simone Inzaghi appears prepared to carefully rotate and balance his squad for the three games that could have a deciding influence on Inter’s season.
