New Inter wing-back Robin Gosens has opened up about the details of his transfer to Inter at the end of the January transfer window, according to a report in the German broadcast media.
Speaking during an interview with Sky Deutschland, via FCInternews, Robin Gosens revealed that German national team coach Hansi Flick told him to make the move if he feels it will be right for him and his family.
“He told me very clearly that if I felt it was right for me and my family, then I had to do it.”
Robin Gosens was also close to joining Premier League side Newcastle United in January. They were offering much higher wages as they are now owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
The German said that the offer was real and there was negotiations but then Inter made contact and they managed to conclude the deal in just 48 hours.
“The offer was real and the negotiations were as described. But I never said yes. And then came Inter, who then wanted to finish everything relatively quickly. And as a result, the complete transfer actually took place within 48 hours.”
Robin Gosens joined Inter from Atalanta but he currently has an injury that he hopes to be recovered from by the end of February.
