New Inter signing Robin Gosens has said his first dream as an Inter player is just to get on the pitch as soon as he can, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking during a long interview with DAZN, via FCInter1908, Robin Gosens explained that he just wants to get on the pitch and make his Inter debut as he is currently recovering from an injury.
“The first dream is to get on the pitch as soon as possible, then become a great Inter player. I have the dream of doing my best with Inter and also with the national team because a world championship awaits us in which I want to participate. I have to play well with my club.”
When it was pointed out to him that he did not label winning the Scudetto as one of his dreams, he said: “Indeed. I want to become an important player, everything else will come.”
Robin Gosens already had an injury from his time at Atalanta which he is still recovering from. He spoke about how he is now training on grass again and is hoping to recover ahead of schedule.
“With the injury I had, I don’t want to give a timescale, the important thing is that I am well. I’m gaining confidence, I train well. I’m already working on the pitch, I hope to get back early, but I don’t want to put pressure on myself because it’s not needed now. I was struck by the greatness of the club. Atalanta is certainly important, but Inter is a historic club.”
He already seems to have a firm grasp of how Inter go about their matches as he said the Nerazzurri must play their own game when they face Napoli tomorrow.
“The key in my opinion is to be able to play our game. Our quality is to play our football, if we manage to do it in Naples we will have a good chance of winning. It is certainly a fundamental match, against a direct competitor, for which we want to win.”
When asked about the journey that he has made in his career, Robin Gosens explained that he has done a lot of extra work to reach this point.
“I did a lot of extra work to get to these levels. Maybe I have less talent than others, but my strength has always been my mentality and discipline. They have taken me really far. This is why I am proud to have arrived at Inter. I spent many hours between the field and the gym to always improve.”
The German international also revealed that Inter President Steven Zhang said that he has confidence in him to succeed at Inter.
“He told me that he is the main Inter fan. Obviously he told me that I now play for a prestigious club and he has given me a huge boost. He told me that we play at a high level and that he has all the confidence in me.”
Robin Gosens initially wanted to be a policeman but when he went to The Netherlands to continue playing football, everything changed.
“When my parents asked me, I always said that I wanted to be a policeman like my grandfather. Then I went to Holland and everything changed.
“As soon as I arrived in Holland. I realised that I could be a professional footballer, it had always been my dream.”
