Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has said that he received many offers for young players during the January transfer window, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media yesterday.

Speaking after the Coppa Italia defeat against Juventus to Sport Mediaset, via FCInter1908, Giovanni Carnevali explained that despite the many offers that he received, he chose to keep his best players and address the situation in the summer window.

“We have many talented young people who have also had many requests in the winter market. We, however, preferred to keep them and focus on them at least until the end of the season.

“We did not need to sell. Fortunately, we have a solid and strong ownership behind us, which wants to focus on young people and, when possible, keep them close.”

The players that Giovanni Carnevali is presumably referring to are Gianluca Scamacca and Davide Frattesi who have both been heavily linked with moves to Inter.

It looks very likely that the young Italian duo will end up at Inter next season but talks between the two clubs did take place during the January transfer window.

Gianluca Scamacca already appears to have committed himself to Inter having turned down chances to join Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal at the end of the transfer window.
