Young Inter owned goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio’s agent has labelled him as one of the most interesting Italian goalkeepers in the game right now, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with FCInter1908, Carlo Alberto Belloni explained that the 24-year-old has been maintaining a high level this season during his second year on loan at Monza in Serie B.

“He is keeping himself at a high level, I think he is one of the most interesting Italian goalkeepers. It is now his fifth season as a professional, and every year he has always reached the playoffs.

“This year, we believe in it even more: for the second year in a row we have decided to stay in Monza, we have married a project that is important to us, looking for the continuity that must be given to a goalkeeper.

“On his part, there is always maximum determination and desire to reach the goal: the Serie B championship is very difficult, there are many variables, but I think that Monza overall had a good first round.

“Match against Spal will be another good test.”

Carlo Alberto Belloni elaborated on the fact that goalkeepers need continuity if they are to reach their goals and Michele Di Gregorio’s goal is to play in Serie A.

“I have followed his career first hand, on the front line, and I have clearly noticed what the right choices were for him to reach this level.

“Our goal is to reach the Serie A. The role of the goalkeeper is very difficult, he plays once, there is no turnover, and being able to always maintain concentration, presence and calm is not easy.

“At Pordenone, Michele was not a starter, last year in Monza the same, there was Lamanna, but he has always made himself available and earned his place.

“To reach the Serie A he knows that it is essential to always play and train at the best level.”

As the agent reveals, there is a clause in the deal with Monza that would see him join the club permanently if they were promoted to Serie A.

“The agreement provides for the redemption obligation on the part of Monza in the event of promotion to Serie A, and if they stay in Serie B, two different figures have been agreed.

“I think that seeing the choices that have been made, with the purchase of Onana, Michele is no longer part of their plans, at least in the short term.

“We have found a formula with Monza that we believe can be ideal for the growth of the boy. Then you know, the market is strange and anything can happen.

Obviously, when there should be a call from Inter, it would be nice. However, the thing that we would like to carry on is to continue playing, regardless of the category, otherwise it would mean throwing away what has been done in these 5 years.”

Michele Di Gregorio is the same age as Andrei Radu but the latter chose to stay at Inter and is the backup to Samir Handanovic.

“I know Radu, he played with Michele, they are both ’97. Different choices have been made. I do not question his value: in my opinion he is very strong, but as for everyone, to reach certain levels you need many components.

“Five years ago, when Michele came out of Inter’s Primavera as captain and champion of Italy, he went to Renate, without thinking about the level of or the name of the team: he believed, he played and the choice was made and he was proved right.

“To date I hope that Monza will be able to reach the Serie A to continue this growth, otherwise we will wait for the summer window and see what we should do.”
