Inter assistant coach Massimiliano Farris does not feel that the team will have any issues if AC Milan temporarily go above them in the Serie A table tomorrow.

Speaking in a press conference after the Nerazzurri’s draw with Napoli earlier this evening, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach emphasized that the team will not let the standings get to their head.

Inter dropped points against Napoli despite avoiding defeat, and after losing to the Rossoneri in the derby last weekend this means that their city rivals can go top of the Serie A table should they beat Sampdoria tomorrow.

The Nerazzurri would still have a game in hand on the Rossoneri, in addition to having a long way to go over the rest of the season, however, and Farris stressed that they will not take this as a serious psychological blow.

“I believe that we sent a message with how we controlled and how we managed to get out of trouble,” he said of the Nerazzurri’s performance to earn a draw against Napoli.

“We weren’t worried when we were seven points behind and we won’t be worried tomorrow if Milan go ahead of us,” he stressed. “In this league there’s always a risk of stumbling, and we must not think that we only need to face Juve now.”

Of the draw against Napoli, he stated that “We’re very satisfied because the game had started badly and could have caused us damage.”

“Napoli took the lead with a penalty which we won’t discuss,” he explained, “after that goal Maradona exploded.”

“But then we showed mentality and awareness to get back into the game,” he continued. “Maybe with a bit of luck we could have even brought home all three points.”

On the performance by goalscorer Edin Dzeko, Farris said that “He ‘ a player who arrived this summer and who we strongly wanted to replace Lukaku, even if he has different characteristics.”

“He is a great attacking regista, but I would also like to give a nod to Lautaro, who had an excellent game,” he added.

Farris concluded that “In the end we seemed to have a bit more than them, even though they had more time to prepare for the match. Napoli remain a great side.”
