Italian journalist Matteo Marani has said that Alexis Sanchez is playing exceptionally well for Inter and is like an extra key player for Simone Inzaghi, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport, via FCInternews, Matteo Marani explained that he sees Lautaro Martinez as still being the owner of the second striker spot in Simone Inzaghi’s team, but he recognises the incredible work that Alexis Sanchez is doing.

“I think that the owner in Simone Inzaghi’s mind will be Lautaro. It’s true that Sanchez is playing exceptionally well and when he is called into question he gives the impression to be a twelfth, an added key player. It was said that he was at the end of his career and instead he is proving to be important.”

At one point earlier in the season it seemed obvious that Alexis Sanchez would be leaving the club as he had fallen out of favour and appeared to be in regular disagreement with the coach about his playing time.

Now that he has had a run without any injuries, he has started to score very important goals and is making Simone Inzaghi choose him more and more frequently.

He may start the Champions League game against Liverpool.
