Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti feels that Inter showed why they’re top of the Serie A table with their performance in today’s 1-1 draw between the two teams in Serie A.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach gave the view that keeping up with the Nerazzurri was difficult for his team given the quality of the opposition.

Napoli had a number of positive moments in the match, particularly in the first half where they started much the better of the two sides, but as the match wore on it began to be the Nerazzurri who looked more convincing.

Inter were unable to go on and get a winner after Edin Dzeko’s equalizing goal early in the second half, but they were well worth the point they took away to direct Scudetto rivals.

Spalletti was impressed with what he saw from Inter on the balance of play, stating that “We don’t have the physicality that Inter do, but the match must also turn on possession of the ball.”

“We had a team in front of us who can control the pitch and show all their qualities,” he went on. “They control the game well – they are Inter and they’re the Italian champions.”

“They’re the strongest team in Italy,” he emphasized, “they demonstrated it on the pitch and not just with words.”
