Former Inter and Napoli defender Francesco Colonnese feels that this evening’s Serie A clash between the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei will see two sides at the top of their games face off.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Colonnese emphasized that both teams look to be playing close to their best going into the match.
Inter sit just one point ahead of the Partenopei in the Serie A table at the moment, albeit with a game in hand on them as well, and the standings fairly reflect their respective seasons.
The pair have been two of the outstanding teams in Serie A so far this campaign, and moreover both come into this evening’s massive head-to-head clash having seemingly put their wobbles behind them to get back to playing their best football.
Colonnese gave the view that “Both of them are currently in great form. It’s true that Inter lost the derby, but they recovered immediately against Roma.”
“In terms of morale, their levels are the same,” he added. “Napoli are going through a positive period and have gotten their best players back. They’re charged up but so are Inter.”
He went on that “Inter are the better of the two. Maybe after the derby loss they found themselves a bit uncertain and vulnerable, but they play by heart and they know they’re a top side.”
