Former Torino, Fiorentina, and Roma striker Ciccio Graziani feels that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is currently suffering from being low on confidence.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the 68-year-old gave the view that Martinez’s is affected by his lack of confidence, especially as he doesn’t always feel secure in his starting spot in the team.

Martinez started against the Partenopei, and despite putting in his usual workrate, the Argentine didn’t come close to scoring.

The 24-year-old could feel that the match was an opportunity gone begging to prove his decisiveness in a big match, and could well be displaced from the starting eleven with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Felipe Caicedo, and soon countryman Joaquin Correa all breathing down his neck.

Graziani believes that right now the thing that Martinez needs most of all is to get back to a more confident mentality so that he can begin scoring again.

“He doesn’t feel that his place in the starting eleven is nailed down, he is always being replaced,” Graziani said. “In my opinion he has taken on a lack of full confidence from this, and it affects him on the pitch.”
