Inter feel optimistic that Alessandro Bastoni will be ready to make his return from injury in time to face Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 22-year-old’s recovery is progressing well and that there is a good chance he will be available for the round of sixteen clash.
Bastoni picked up a painful ankle injury against Roma in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, and has been racing to get back to fitness in time for the clash with Liverpool over the week.
The defender was always set to miss yesterday’s Serie A clash with Napoli through suspended, with Federico Dimarco starting in his place in the 1-1 draw, but the target has been a return to face Liverpool.
It’s still far from certain when Bastoni will be ready to return and the club will be mindful not to rush him back from injury, but he wants to play against the Reds and optimism is growing.
