Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni feels that Inter are still the team to beat in Serie A and will be very difficult for their rivals to catch up to.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Zazzaroni argued that even after a loss and a draw against their two major Scudetto rivals, the Nerazzurri are still favourites.

Inter were staring down the possibilities of two consecutive losses in the league after they went behind to Napoli early on, though they rescued a point from the match to at least keep the Partenopei at bay.

The decisive week back from the international break has not quite gone as the Nerazzurri will have wanted, as a derby loss to AC Milan saw their lead at the top of the Serie A table reduced significantly.

However, Inter now have these key matches behind them and still have their fate in their own hands should they win their game in hand, and Zazzaroni feels that they will still be very hard to get the better of over the rest of the campaign.

“No, it doesn’t end here,” he writes. “And yet, despite having come out of the matches against Milan and Napoli with just one point, Inter still seem uncatchable to me.”

“It’s true that in the first half they suffered from the possession play of Spalletti’s men, but it is equally the case that in the second they looked the superior side, aggressive and even exposing themselves to the risk of the counter,” he continues.

He feels that “Inter have a conviction and a certainty in their game that the others don’t or have not yet recovered – Napoli and Milanhad them over the first month and a half, but have been reduced by key absences.”
