Inter were not able to get a decisive three points against Napoli yesterday evening, but they could have nevertheless given themselves more control in the Scudetto with their draw at the Maradona.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who argue that the result could be a “step towards the Scudetto” for the Nerazzurri in the context of the overall title race.

The Nerazzurri prevented Napoli from gaining any ground on them in the Scudetto race, and should they win their game in hand then their fate is still in their hands.

Meanwhile, even though the five points dropped against AC Milan and Napoli are damaging for the Nerazzurri’s title pursuit, they also mean that the team have the two matches against their closest rivals out of the way.

An away trip to face Juventus stands out as a difficult fixture among the Nerazzurri’s remaining Serie A fixtures, and no match can ever be expected to be truly straightforward in the Italian top flight, but from here their schedule could be downhill.
