Inter will have to do without Marcelo Brozovic for the first time in Serie A this season, with the Croat set to miss Sunday’s clash with Sassuolo through suspension.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note the significance of the 29-year-old’s one-match ban for an accumulation of yellow cards in the league.

Inter have been without Brozovic once this season, with the midfielder having served a suspension from last season’s Coppa Italia in last month’s round of sixteen clash with Empoli.

In that match, a heavily rotated Nerazzurri team laboured to beat the Tuscans and needed extra time after a topsy turvy match which finished 3-2.

Meanwhile, in the 24 matches that Inter have played in Serie A this season, Brozovic has started all 24 of them.

Now, coach Simone Inzaghi will have the task before him of setting his team up to make up for the significant absence of a player who has been all but irreplaceable so far in the campaign.
