Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga feels that the Nerazzurri gave a demonstration of their mentality by coming back from a goal down against Napoli.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, the 61-year-old hailed the Nerazzurri’s performance to respond to a difficult situation early on and earn a point.
The Nerazurri looked somewhat shellshocked when they conceded an early penalty against the Partenopei, who made their blistering start and scored from the spot to go a goal up.
Even after this, it took a while for the Nerazzurri to get back into the match as Napoli were in the ascendancy and buoyed by an atmospheric home crowd.
However, after the interval the Nerazzurri immediately hit back with an equalizer, and from then on looked much more like their usual selves.
Zenga felt that this showed the grit that the Inter players have even in tough circumstances, noting that “It was not an easy start to the match for Inter with the penalty, and then Zielinski hitting the post.”
He went on that “Inter showed that they are solid and mature today. In the first half, Barella barely featured in the game. Then the strength and mentality of the Nerazzurri came out.”
