Legendary former Napoli, Parma, and Chelsea midfielder Gianfranco Zola feels that Inter are still Scudetto favourites and can also have a run at Liverpool in the Champions League.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Zola named that Nerazzurri as still being at the head of the pack in Serie A despite their recent stumbles.
Inter have not gotten through their two consecutive head-to-head clashes with direct rivals AC Milan and Napoli unscathed, dropping five points including suffering their second loss of the Serie A season in the derby.
However, they now have these matches behind them, and they remain in control of their own destiny should they win their game in hand, and also will feel that their schedule gets considerably easier on paper.
Zola feels that even though the title race is very much on, it is still the Nerazzurri who are the best-equipped team to go on and win it.
Asked about the Scudetto chase, he said that “Inter are the favourites for me though Napoli won’t give up, and Milan and Juve are also in the running.
He also spoke about the Nerazzurri’s chances in the Champions League, stating that “Inter have a chance, no doubt, even if Liverpool are in very good form.”
