Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal are set to start for Inter in Wednesday evening’s Champions League round of sixteen clash with Liverpool.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that Sanchez is favourite to start in attack ahead of Lautaro Martinez while fellow Chilean Arturo Vidal should start in midfield for the suspended Nicolo Barella.
Martinez has not been in good form in front of goal despite showing his usual workrate, and the Corriere predicts that the 24-year-old will drop to the bench as Simone Inzaghi puts his trust in Sanchez for goals against the Reds.
Meanwhile, Barella is out for both legs following his red card against Real Madrid, and Vidal is the likeliest candidate to replace him in the starting eleven, with Matias Vecino having just taken part in light training.
Meanwhile, Felipe Caicedo will be part of the squad for the match, while Alessandro Bastoni has been working hard on his individualized recovery program in the hopes of being back from his ankle injury in time for the match.
