Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries is glad to be with the Nerazzurri, and feels that the team has hit top form this season.

Speaking to UEFA TV, as reported by FCInter1908, the 25-year-old spoke of his happiness since joining Inter last summer from PSV and also emphasized the desire to play a positive style of football and win trophies.

Dumfries has been one of Inter’s form players over the past few weeks, and has really begun to show why he was signed last summer.

The Dutchman is settling in on and off the pitch, looking to have more of an understanding with his teammates by the match, and as he revealed, is enjoying life in Italy as well.

Dumfries spoke about his formative years and how he got into the world of football, stating that :I knew that I would become a footballer, I was convinced of it. And I wanted to play for the Dutch national team.”

“When I was in Barendrecht I sent a message to the Dutch FA to ask if it would be possible to make the switch to the Oranje, since I had not yet played any international matches and so I was eligible to play for the Netherlands,” he went on.

“At PSV Eindhoven I knew I could become a player for the national team,” the Dutchman continued, “it was a logical next step, even though I didn’t win anything there.”

He went on that “I improved a lot, I made my debut in the Champions League and with the national team, and I grew on a personal level.”

Of his time in Italy so far, Dumfries remarked that “Food is very important in Italy. Two weeks ago everyone got mad at me for adding chicken on top of pasta with pesto.”

“For them that’s an insult to pasta,” he explained, before joking that “I won’t be doing that again.”

“When I found out that Inter were really interested in me, I realized that they were the club I wanted to play for,” he explained.”

“We have a great team, we play fantastic football, we also have a lot of fun together,” he said. “We’re focused on winning, we’re on the right path and I believe that we’ll continue in this direction.”
