Inter spent more to bring Belgian defender Zinho Vanheusden back to the club from Standard Liege than they had on Denzel Dumfries in the summer.
This according to Italian football finance news outlet Calcio e Finanza, who detail that the defender was the second most expensive purchase of the window after Joaquin Correa.
Inter made a number of signings last summer, although they were facing financial restrictions so none of them were particularly big money arrivals by the standards of major European clubs, especially considering the departures in the same period.
At a total spend of €33.387 million as revealed by Calcio e Finanza, Correa was the most expensive arrival of the window, on an initial loan from Lazio which was recently made into a permanent signing.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri spent €16 million to bring Vanheusden back to the club from Standard, which was their second highest expenditure on a player in the window and a mark of the potential shown by the defender, currently on loan at Genoa.
Coming in behind Vanheusden was the signing of Dumfries from PSV, which Calcio e Finanza reveals cost the Nerazzurri €13.751 million, representing value for money considering he has been one of the form players recently.
The other four signings made in the summer were Edin Dzeko, who cost €1.2 million from Roma, as well as midfielder Nicolo Biral from Atalanta, Silas Anderson from Copenhagen FC, and Jan Zuberek from SPAL.
