Inter striker Edin Dzeko will have a key tactical role to play for his team in Wednesday evening’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that the 35-year-old’s battle with Reds defender Virgil van Dijk could be key to unlocking the English side’s defense.

Dzeko does not play as a conventional centre-forward, but rather has taken up a role as an “attacking regista” at times for his team, dropping into midfield to get on the ball and use his physical strength and technical ability to bring teammates into play.

Against the Reds, van Dijk will face a tricky task marking the Bosnian, who will likely look to move around and find space to potentially create overloads in midfield, likely causing the defender to follow him.

This could be the key to the Nerazzurri finding space in front of Liverpool’s goal, but only if Dzeko can get the better of his personal duel with the formidable Liverpool centre-back.
