Juventus coach Max Allegri feels that Inter are the strongest team in Serie A and the clear favourites to win the Scudetto.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after his side’s dramatic late draw against Atalanta yesterday, the Italian tactician emphasized that he was speaking sincerely and hadn’t meant to jinx the Nerazzurri by naming them as title favourites for the title for the past few months.
Juventus and Inter had both started the season among the favourites to win the Scudetto, but it has been champions Inter who have looked more convincing, while the Bianconeri’s poor start has made it difficult to get back to their Scudetto perch.
The Nerazzurri find themselves in a heated Scudetto race with AC Milan and Napoli as their closest rivals, whilst the Bianconeri are lurking a number of points behind those teams.
However, for Allegri, it is still Inter who have the most about them to go on and win the Serie A title.
He noted that “The team with the best attack and the second-best defense are in the lead for it.”
“I said in September that for me Inter will win it, though with all due respect to Milan and Napoli,” he went on. “Yesterday Inter took an important step, and Spalletti also said that Inter are the strongest team.”
“I’m not saying that to jinx it, it’s just a fact,” he added, “right now they are stronger than us, we lost too many points in the first part of the season. If we had four more points now maybe we could get some joy.”
