Legendary former Inter midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi feels that the Nerazzurri began the season at a financial disadvantage but overcame it to become the strongest team in Serie A.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Kiss Kiss, Beccalossi praised his former team for managing to get themselves to such a position of strength despite difficult circumstances before the campaign began.

Inter’s summer was one of turmoil, with the departures of Antonio Conte and Achraf Hakimi compounded by the shock loss of Christian Eriksen to health issues and then the unexpected sale of Romelu Lukaku.

The club had to be mindful of financial issues in finding replacements for these key players, and also put their faith in Simone Inzaghi’s ability to make the step up from his already impressive work with Lazio.

Beccalossi feels that the Nerazzurri did well on all fronts to get to where they are at this point in the season.

|Inter started with a slight disadvantage compared to their rivals,” he said, “serious financial problems and issues with the project, looking at the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, Simone Inzaghi’s Inter got off to a rocky start.”

“But on paper they’re the the strongest team and they proved it by winning the Super Cup, and staying in the running to win the Scudetto and the Champions League,” he went on.
